Eye-Catching Soccer Bulletin Board - Professional Development - and Volleyball
Soccer Bulletin Board - Professional Development - Volleyball bulletin board
The bulletin boards are so easy to create! However - it may be a little intimidating at first.
My first bulletin board is about professional development and its organizations related to the physical education and health.
Here is what I did to be successful in creating it. I researched and found the and most important organization related to my major. That was AAHPERD. Then - I learned that AAHPERD is the alliance of six other national associations. So - at this point I have more than enough information for the bulletin board.
Here are the steps -
- Pick a catchy slogan - for example "Professional Development"
- Define AAHPERD
- Find out about six other national associations
- Provide a short description about each association
- Provide registration form for AAHPERD
- Prepare yourself with lots of plain paper and colored too
- Use your imagination!
Here is my example -

I created this volleyball bulletin board for elementary students. I tried to make it as simple as possible but at the same time catchy for their eyes.I did a little research about volleyball. I found out that mintonette is the original name for volleyball. Then - I picked the most important skills from the game and put them into picture form - and short - simple description about each technique. Here are the steps - - Pick a catchy slogan - for example "Volleyball"
- Define volleyball
- Identity important skills and their short description
- Visualize each skill
- Prepare yourself with lots of colored paper
Here is my example -

Next bulletin board I created for high school students. It's about soccer. The concept is the same - make research about the sport. Find out important key points and provide short description. Find out who are the superstars of soccer. Just visualize pictures and make it catchy for the students to stop by the board and read what it says. Here is my example -

Reflection about bulletin boards
Throughout my college career I had a chance to make three bulletin boards related to physical education and health. One was about Professional Development in my junior field class. Two others were about Volleyball in the elementary school and Soccer bulletin board in high school.
The reason why I decided to include them into my portfolio because I want to express my enthusiasm that I received when I saw elementary students stopping by the bulletin board and looking at it and reading it. In the elementary school I did the volleyball board. I think the reason why I caught their attention so much was because it was a very eye catching board that the students could relate to in class.
After I did the bulletin board in the elementary school - my cooperating teacher started making bulletin boards for all of his units. As soon as he did it - he would laminate it so that the poster will stay permanent and will not degrade.
Even in high school I thought that the students would just ignore the Soccer bulletin board or just start ripping it apart piece by piece. Even a couple of the other physical education teachers gave my bulletin board a couple of days of survival before students would rip it off. Nevertheless - my soccer bulletin board is still in one piece going into the forth week of existence.
At first making the bulletin boards for me was sort of difficult but I learned that all there need to be is important points from the unit with short explanation. Make it eye catching - interesting and easy to read. Make it available to all the students - teachers and even parents so everyone can see and learn new things in the particular unit.
