Nutrition Objectives

Third topic of Health Curriculum is nutrition unit with nutrition objectives. In this unit students will learn about food factors, nutrients, food pyramid, food labels, and much more. Also, it identifies objectives with Bloom’s Taxonomy learning domains.

Nutrition objectives and outcomes:

  • Students will describe factors that influence one’s food choices. (Comprehension)
  • Students will define carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. (Knowledge)
  • Students will identify and choose food sources for carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. (Comprehension, application)
  • Students will contrast complete and incomplete proteins. (Analysis)
  • Students will define cholesterol and explain its relationship to overall health. (Knowledge, comprehension)
  • Students will describe the role of water in maintaining good health. (Comprehension)
  • Students will name the six food groups and recommended servings for each food group. (Knowledge)
  • Students will use tips to control fat, sugars, and sodium in foods.
  • Students will explain the use of food groups to develop healthy eating patterns. (Comprehension)
  • Students will be able to create healthy diets. (Synthesis)
  • Students will compare different diets and make healthier suggestions. (Evaluation, synthesis)
  • Students will list the information required on a nutritional information label. (Knowledge)
