Growth Objectives and Development Objectives

Fourth topic of Health Curriculum is growth and development unit with growth objectives and development objectives. In this unit students will learn about puberty, fertilization process, abstinence, and much more. Also, it identifies objectives with Bloom’s Taxonomy learning domains.

Growth and development objectives and its outcomes:

  • Students will outline major events in the first nine months of life, from fertilization through birth. (Knowledge)
  • Students will describe prenatal care and why it is important. (Comprehension)
  • Students will identify prenatal risks. (Comprehension)
  • Students will compare the size of a fetus at 4 months and at 9 months and distinguish the difference. (Analysis, evaluation)
  • Students will summarize the process of heredity. (Knowledge)
  • Students will identify and explain genetic disorders. (Comprehension)
  • Students will predict a physical trait determined by dominant genes. (Evaluation)
  • Students will describe the first four of Erikson’s eight stages of development. (Comprehension)
  • Students will be able to choose appropriate stage of development when given a scenario. (Application)
  • Students will describe the four types of changes that occur during puberty and adolescence. (Comprehension)
  • Students will summarize the developmental tasks of adolescence. (Comprehension)
  • Students will outline and choose the steps to follow when making decision to practice abstinence. (Knowledge, comprehension, application)
  • Students will explain the role of refusal skills in maintaining abstinence. (Comprehension)
  • Students will demonstrate refusal skills. (Application)
  • Students will discuss the consequences of sexual activity before marriage. (Comprehension)
  • Students will analyze and predict the consequences of someone being sexually active. (Analysis, evaluation)
