Brushing Teeth Lesson

I begin my brushing teeth lesson with a worksheet to see how much my students know about the topic. I go over the answers to the worksheet. I emphasize the importance of brushing teeth. They need to be brushed because we want them to be clean and avoid cavities.

I actually bring in the actual toothbrush and the toothpaste. These are the items needed for teeth brushing.

I do go over healthy and unhealthy foods for your teeth.

Healthy foods for your teeth are:

  • Nuts
  • Milk
  • Yogurt

Unhealthy foods for your teeth are:

  • Soda
  • Candy
  • Cake

Worksheet for this part of the lesson is included at the bottom of this page.

Then, I present the steps of teeth brushing:

  1. Pick up the toothbrush.
  2. Wet the brush.
  3. Put paste on the brush.
  4. Brush the top row of teeth.
  5. Brush the bottom row of teeth.
  6. Spit.
  7. Rinse teeth with water.
  8. Rinse the brush.
